If that doesn't do it, give us a call and we'll track down the real cause.

Usually it's a dirty or worn out thermocouple or thermopile, the part that tells the gas valve the pilot is lit.
A draft or a dirty pilot assembly can do it too.
It's a quick fix for our techs, and it's not something you want to keep relighting over and over.

If you smell gas, see smoke coming into the room or hear something new, stop using it.
Smell gas? Leave the house and call your gas company before anything else.
For anything else that seems off, call us and we'll check it out before you light it again.

Soot on a gas fireplace usually means the logs got moved out of place or the air and gas mix is off.
Wiping the glass won't fix the cause.
We'll get the flame burning clean again so the soot doesn't come back.
